SKATING GETS SERIOUS

Now that almost every kid in America seemed to be tearing up his or her neighborhood streets, the level of competition increased, and soon neighborhoods kids from all over were becoming professional skaters. skateboarding had gained a foothold in the world of American sports with organized competitions and corporate sponsorship.

unfortunately many adults still thought of skateboarding as a hobby practiced by juvenile delinquents. Skateboarding was often associated with vandalism and trouble making kids. In many towns across the country, the sport was outlawed and the local police confiscated skateboards.
